What do I get? A seasonal selection of fresh organic veggies. Items will vary depending on what’s in season. We will always ensure you get the full value of your share.
Why do I have to pay all upfront? the CSA model is for small vegetable farms and people looking for fresh organic produce. Essentially, you are investing in us directly to be able to buy our seeds, tools, labour, and other upfront costs of farming, and in return you are subscribing to the weekly seasonal harvest. With the CSA model, members are able to receive the best, fresh, organic vegetables directly from the source. However we realize this is a big investment so we now offer a payment plan if required.
What if I’m on vacation? If you are away on vacation you can have a friend or relative pick up your share; this allows others to have the opportunity to experience being a part of a farm. If you are unable to have someone pick up your share we can donate the contents to a local charity.
What if I don’t like certain types of vegetables? The CSA model supports the harvest of seasonal veggies and we are not able to customize your share. If you are getting your share delivered and are allergic to any vegetable we grow please let us know in advance and we will replace it with another veg. There will be a swap out bin at the pickup site for those picking their veggies at the farm.
Where do you deliver? Currently, we deliver locally from our farm, so Guelph, Rockwood and surrounding areas. There is a nominal fee of $126 + HST for local delivery for the 18 weeks ($7 per week). Delivery day is Tuesday afternoon/evening. Pick up is free Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm- 7:30pm or Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm.
How do I add-on Eggs and/or Mushrooms to my share? We have amazing fresh pastured eggs and delicious and nutritious local mushrooms to add-on to your veggie share. Simply add it to your order on the registration form. There is a limited amount of egg and mushroom shares available therefore if we have sold out the option to choose it will no longer be present on the form. Any remaining eggs will be available throughout the summer on a pay-as-you-go basis at our roadside egg shed along with any extra veggies you wish to purchase.
How do I order chicken? Send an email with your order and you will be contacted to confirm the order. You will have the option to pick up fresh at the farm throughout the summer/early fall or frozen. If you are getting a veggie share delivered we can deliver your chicken order frozen at the same time for no extra cost.
Can I visit the farm? Yes, all members will be invited to attend our open Farm day on Saturday June 11th from 10AM to 1PM. Members can come to the farm to see where and how the veggies grow and check out the chickens and cows and meet the farmers. Family members are invited too, dogs must be on a leash.
How do I become a harvest helper? We’d love your help on the farm (while adhering to Covid-lockdown/quarantine rules at the time) and in return you can receive a share of the vegetables for the week. We’re looking for any day of the week (Monday – Saturday). Go to our Harvest Helper page for more information.
How does the Farmer’s Break work? It is very hard work being a farmer and the need to recharge during the growing season is essential. Therefore, the farmers will be taking a break on June 28, 29, Aug 23, 24, July 23rd. This means that members will not pick up or receive delivery two (2) times for mid week pick up delivery and 1 tine for Saturday piccj up during the season and that members will receive 18 weeks of shares over a 19 and 20 week period.
How it works: Tuesday Delivery will not receive a delivery on June 28th and August 23rd; Wednesday pick up’s will not come to the farm to collect veggies on June 29th and August 24th and Saturday pickups will not come to the farm for veg collection on July 23rd and September 24th.
How will I remember these farmer break dates?: Don’t worry reminder emails will be sent out prior to these dates so that you do not forget and expect a delivery or come to the farm on these farmer break days.
How does the pick and pack my own veggies work? All vegetables harvested will be laid out on the tables in bins, including eggs and mushrooms (for those with any add on’s to their share), signs will direct you on what and how much to take according to the share you have ordered. There will be a swap out bin for those who want to trade one veg for another. We feel this change will not only reduce waste it eliminates the task of having to mess around with and return boxes. There may be times when the veggie pickup location is left unattended by staff, we are trusting that the signs will be followed so that everyone gets their share of the veggies.
What happens if i am getting my share delivered? If you are getting your share delivered you will be assigned two re usable bags. The previous bag will be collected by the delivery person and will need to be left near your door for collection by noon each Tuesday.
